Obituary

David M. Tracy, Of Woburn, age 80, died March 18, 2009 at Winchester Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Russo) Tracy, whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with. Born in Medford, David was the son of the late Gertrude (Scully) & Melvin Tracy.

He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. After high school he joined the armed forces serving eighteen months in the US Army as a cook. From there, he worked at the Watertown Arsenal as a metallurgist before moving on to NASA, in Cambridge as an assistant staff member. He then went on to have a long and successful career serving as a Physical Science Technician, eventually retiring from MIT-Lincoln Laboratories. His efforts were instrumental in the research and processing of semiconductor materials.

Dave was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. One of his favorite past times was woodworking projects at his meticulously organized home work bench. Dave was Past-President of the Woburn Breakfast Lions Club from 1997-1998 and was well liked by his peers. While serving, Dave constructed several doll houses that were auctioned off to assist in raising funds for the club. Another noteworthy project was the restoration of the Middlesex Canal Boat which once resided at the Baldwin Mansion.

In addition to his loving wife Joan (Russo) Tracy, David is survived by his devoted children, David Tracy and his wife Sarah of Stoneham, Judy Finn, her husband Kevin, Michael Tracy and his wife Cheryl all of Woburn, Steven Tracy and his wife Judy of Litchfield, NH. He also leaves eleven loving grandchildren and two loving great grandchildren. He is the brother of Richard Tracy and his late wife Mary of Falmouth, Elizabeth Loughran and her late husband Francis of Watertown, Arthur Tracy and his late wife Ruth of Norton, as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN, Monday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
