Obituary

Mr. Michael J. Fazio Sr., 90 of Burlington formerly of Medford, died Sunday in Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He is the husband of Helene (Zapska) Fazio with whom he shared more than 57 years of marriage. A lifelong Medford resident, he had lived in Burlington for the past 7 years. Mr. Fazio was born in Boston, the son of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Franco) Fazio. In earlier years he worked as a Millwright, employed by the former Domino Sugar Confectionary in Charlestown. More recently he worked with his son in the electrical business. Considered a “jack of all trades” he was the one to ask how to fix anything. Mr. Fazio was an Army Veteran having served during WWII with the 2520th AAF Base Unit. He is a member of the Somerville VFW Post #529 and an avid sports fan of the Boston Bruins. In early years he was a premier athlete most proficient at baseball. It is believed that he played semi-professional baseball both locally and for the U.S. Army.
He is survived by four sons: Michael J. Fazio Jr. and his wife Frances of Burlington, William Fazio of Wilmington, Paul Fazio and his late wife Karen of Waltham, Richard Fazio and his wife Kathleen of Burlington. Grandfather of Marie, Victoria & Michael Fazio, John Stackpole and the late Mary Margaret Fazio. Brother of the late Biagio, Joseph, Vincent & Anthony Fazio, Carmella Ardizzoni, and Sarah Orlando. Friends may call Thursday from 4 thru 8 at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, Friday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
