Obituary

FRANKLIN—Sara Apalakian 79, of Franklin died Saturday March 14, 2009 at the Milford Regional Medical Center, following a short illness.
Born in Franklin, November 30, 1929 a daughter of the late Senekerim and Elizabeth (Zorzopian) Apalakian, she was a lifelong town resident.
She was educated in local schools, and was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School. She also attended Burdette Secretarial School in Boston, and graduated from there in 1949.
She worked for the former Statler Hilton Hotel in Boston as a secretary in the administration office for over 28 years until working in a similar capacity for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Corrections at Norfolk State Prison, until her retirement.
After retiring, she was an active volunteer at the Franklin Food Pantry, and the Franklin Senior Citizens. She enjoyed taking day trips, and was also a member of the AARP, and the Anglican Church of the Redeemer in Franklin.
She is survived by a brother Richard Apalakian and a sister Violet Apalakian both of Franklin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Tuesday March 17, at 11AM in the Franklin United Methodist Church 82 West Central St. (RT.140) Franklin. Rev John Potter rector of the Anglican Church of the Redeemer will officiate.
Interment will follow in the family lot in Union Street Cemetery.
