Ruth R.(Alishauskas) Emco, 84, of 68 Hyland Rd., died Friday, March 13, surrounded by her caring family, at Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton.
She was the wife of William G. Emco, who died in 1980. She leaves her son Edward P. Emco and his wife Amalia of Worcester, her two daughters Carol M. Emco and Darlene R. Emco-Rollins both of Charlton, seven grandchildren Eric, Justin, Shane, Dawn Marie, Natasha, Christopher and Michael, seven great grandchildren Brittany, Zachary, Paul, Mackenzie, William, Samantha and Anthonie, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Emco was a dispatcher for the Charlton Fire Dept., for 29 years, prior to retiring in 1987.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Michael J. and Antonina (Mathews) Alishauskas. Ruth graduated from Auburn High School and attended David Hale Fanning Trade School in Worcester. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, its' Catholic Women's Club (past secretary), and served on the Bishop's Fund for many years. She was a member of the Charlton Fire Dept. Women's Auxillary. She loved animals, befriended many strays, liked to read, crochet and above all spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Overlook Post Acute Unit and Hospice and also Dr. John Howland, III for the exceptional care given their mother before her death.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 17 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 10H. Putnam Extension, Charlton. Burial will follow in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton.Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7p.m. in the funeral home.
