Mildred I. “Millie” (Abbott) Martin, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, died Friday at the Winthrop House Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 92.
Mrs. Martin was born in Newfoundland, the daughter of the late Clement and the late Lillian (Baker) Abbott. Millie lived in Somerville most of her life and spent the last ten years as a Medford resident.For many years she worked at Polmer Tempera, Inc. in Medford, retiring at he age of 75.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Martin. She was the devoted mother of Marjorie Bertocchi and her husband Frank of Somerville, Paul Martin and his wife Carol, Lillian Finigan and her husband James all of Medford, and the late Joseph “Sonny” Martin. She is aslo survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Alfred Bertocchi.
Millie’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
