Obituary

WORCESTER-Despina (Notidis) Kapetanios, 88, of Worcester, died Wednesday, March 11th in the St. Francis Home, of old age. She was born in Greece and came to this country with her family fifty years ago. Despina was predeceased by her daughter, Antonia wife of Stavros Parousis and mother of Vasil and Michael in 1995 and by her husband Evangelos, in 1996. She is also survived by her sons and their families: Christos and his wife Jean, along with their children Juliet, Natalie and Evan; Andrew and his ex-wife Judy, along with their children Melissa and Jessica; and the family great grandchildren, Gillian McCourt, Alexander Meir, Liam Thompson and Clara Antonia Meir.
Despina is revered by her family for her devotion and she will be remembered as a loving, honest and hardworking woman. “Everlasting be thy memory.”
Calling hours will be held today, Friday, March 13th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Her family and friends will assemble at the funeral home on Saturday morning, preceding a service at 9:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will then follow in Hope Cemetery.
Despina would not have thought it practical to send flowers. Rather, one might well consider making a modest donation to her church, as a show of her good will.
