Obituary

Joseph F. Tero, 80 of Franklin died March 11 in the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. He was the husband of Kathleen P. (Coady) Tero.
Born in Franklin, April 29, 1928, he was the son of the late Maxiam and Catherine (Gallagher) Tero. Mr. Tero was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Mr. Tero graduated from Franklin High School and attended Dean Jr. College.
Mr. Tero had been the supervisor of cashiers at the former Foxboro Raceway for 39 years. He had also previously worked for the Whitinsville Machine Company for 15 years and also for the Shawmut Bank in Boston.
Mr. Tero had been the past president of the St. Mary’s Church Holy Name Society.
He had also coached little league and youth basketball in Franklin.
Mr. Tero enjoyed traveling with his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Stephen Tero of Manchester, CT, his daughters, Mary Anne Shelman of Westport, CT, and Mary Ellen Powell of Mystic, CT. He was the father of the late Joseph F. Tero Jr.
Mr. Tero was the brother of the late Maxiam, Louise, Helen and Margaret Tero.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Powell, Beth Anne, Shaunna and Max Shelman and Tristan Tero.
His funeral will be held on Monday, March 16 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Activities Fund of the Maples, 90 Taunton St., Wrentham, MA 02093.
