WORCESTER-Irene S. (Schofield) O’Brien, 85, of 383 Mill Street, formerly of Coes Pond Village died Sunday, June 8th in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband, William V. O’Brien died in 1988. She leaves a son, William V. O’Brien, Jr. of Oxford; a daughter, Susan A. McCrohon of Worcester; 2 brothers, Clifford Schofield of Santa Barbara, CA and Roy Schofield of Clinton; 2 sisters, June Booker of Hudson, FL and Sylvia Botelho of Santa Maria, CA; 6 grandchildren, a great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of William and Carrie (Greene) Schofield and lived here all her life. Mrs. O’Brien worked for many years at Reed & Prince Company before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the 49ers Club at Coes Pond Village. She enjoyed the beach and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.
The funeral will be Tuesday, June 10th at 11:00 AM in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hermitage Health and Rehabilitation Center, 383 Mill Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
