AUGUSTA, Ga.-Entered into rest on January 31, 2009, Rev. Donald John Welch, 76, beloved husband of Betty A. Welch.
Rev. Welch was a native of Lansing, MI but had resided in Georgia since the age of 10. He served as a Minister for 42 years in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.
Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Wesley Welch of Buford, GA, David Welch of Augusta, (daughter-in-law, Carmen); daughters: Deborah Hamby of Acworth, GA, (son-in-law, Ben), Rebekah Welch of Canton, GA; grandchildren: Paul Hamby, Hannah Hamby, Aaron Welch, Sophia Welch and brothers: Charles Welch of Las Cruces, NM and Roger Welch (sister-in-law, Brenda) of Pensacola, FL.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Brown and Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 P.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the "Gathering Area" of Trinity UMC prior to the service, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:15 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904 or to a favorite charity.
