Obituary

HARWICHPORT-William R. Mosher, 81, of 187 Gilbert Lane, formerly of Upsala Street and Stevens road in Worcester died Saturday, June 7th in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis of Heart Disease. He leaves 2 sisters, Eleanor M. wife of Leonard Martinsen of Rouses Point, NY and Clair R. Mosher of Worcester and a niece, Linda Martinsen of Middletown, RI.

He was born in Worcester the son of William R. and Frances (Clair) Mosher and lived in Worcester before moving to Harwichport in the late 80’s. He graduated from South High School in Worcester in 1940. He was a WWII Army Air Corp veteran serving in Europe and participated in the liberation of Paris. Mr. Mosher worked for Fannie Farmer Candy Shops in Worcester, Auburn and Hyannis for many years retiring in 1980. He previously worked as a florist for Littlefields and Flowerland in Worcester. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 59 of Hillsboro, NH. He enjoyed gardening and the beaches of Cape Cod.

The funeral will be Tuesday, June 10th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cape Cod Hospital Cardiac Care Unit, 27 Park Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
