Mary Capps Young, 85, Clarksville, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Mickey Richaud and Rev. Dorothy Hartzog officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery, Camden, TN at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born February 12, 1924 in Camden, TN, daughter of the late Wheeler Capps and Lori Gossett Capps. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Young and a son, Dr.Jim Young. Mrs. Young was a retired teacher with the Clarksville Montgomery County School System. She taught fifth grade at Moore Elementary School. She was an avid supporter of the Arts, APSU Art Department and attended Flying High faithfully. She was the number 1 fan of the Clarksville High School Basketball Team. All four of her sons attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 514. Survivors include three sons: Ted Young (Marydith), Clarksville; Art Young (Lisa), Orlando, FL; and Don Young (Lana) Williamsburg, VA.; and eight grandchildren, Charles Jonathan Young, Nicolette Young, Matthew Henry Young, Emily Louise Young, Jim Drake Young, Teal Young, Mary Catherine Fleenor, and Matt Kautz. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Orgain, Ben Kimbrough, Bobby Gossett, Mike Head, Johnny Guyton, Trent Knott, Vernon Weakley, and Bob Batson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Irwin, Honorable Sam Boaz, Sonny Woodard, and all former and current CHS basketball players..
