Obituary

AUBURN-Margaret G. “Gerry” (Jameson) Klashka Melendy, 82, of Wellman Street died Saturday, June 7th at home after a battle with lung cancer. Her husband of 16 years, Albert Melendy died in 1989 and her first husband of 33 years, Alfred E. Klashka died in 1972. She leaves 2 sons, John Klashka of North Andover and Jeffrey Klashka of Worcester; a daughter, Joan Weldon of Worcester; a sister, Elizabeth Barnes of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a longtime friend and companion, Edmund Descoteau. 4 brother and 4 sisters predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of William J. and Margaret (McKeon) Jameson and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Auburn. She graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Melendy worked for many years at the former Freedom Federal Bank in Worcester before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Quinsigamond Yacht Club and the Auburn Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader, enjoyed camping, bowling, writing stories and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast.

The funeral will be Thursday, June 12th at noontime in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be from 11:00 until noontime on the morning of the funeral.
