Mark Raymond Fischer of Medford, formerly of West Hartford CT, died on March 5, 2009 at the Tippett Home Hospice in Needham after a long illness. He was 56 years old. Born in Hartford CT, he was the son of Niels Harwood Fischer and the late Virginia (Byrnes) Fischer. He was a graduate of The Loomis Chaffee School and Cornell University. His career was in computer science and insurance. He retired as Senior Consultant of CGI-USA, Inc., an Andover software company. Mr. Fischer had been a resident of Medford since 1996 and was a member of the Medford Congregational Church, the Appalachian Mountain Club and many other church and social groups. He is survived by his father of Needham, his brother Paul Michael Fischer and Paul’s wife Elisabeth Guerlain Talbot of Avon CT, his brother John Peter Fischer and John’s wife Susan Cairns Fischer of Marblehead, his brother James Benson Fischer and James’ companion Maria Amoroso of Haddon Heights NJ, and his nephews and nieces: Paul, Jr., Michael, Sarah and Kiley. Mark’s interment service will be at 11 a. m. on March 14, 2009 in Needham Cemetery, 128 Nehoiden St., followed by his memorial service at 12 noon and reception to follow in the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154 Great Plain Ave., Needham 02492. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to both services.
