Obituary

William T. "Bill" Ezekiel, a longtime resident of Arlington and formerly of Charlestown, died unexpectedly at his home in Arlington on Tuesday March 3, 2009. He was 87 years old.

Bill was born in Boston on October 27, 1921. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. He enlisted into the United States Army on February 11, 1943 and served his country during World War ll. He was discharged on January 2, 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He worked on the Boston Waterfront for several years and was a member of the International Longshoreman's Union Local # 799. He worked in the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown for 27 years as a rigger until it's closing in 1974. Bill's last employment was with the City of Boston as an assistant manager of maintenance for the Copley Square Library in Boston. He retired after 15 years of service to the City of Boston. He was member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association and Chapter # 10 of Disabled American Veterans.

Bill is the beloved husband of the late Anne P. (Burns) Ezekiel. He is the devoted father of John Ezekiel and his wife Ann of Reading, Michael Ezekiel and his wife Diane of Highland Beach, Florida, William Ezekiel and his wife Taafe of Jupiter, Florida, Gael Keefe and her companion Fred Johannson of Arlington and Frederick Ezekiel of Arlington. He is the loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved son of the late Peter and Anne M. (Flynn) Ezekiel of Harbor Main, Newfoundland. He is the beloved bother of Anna Bannister of Rockland, Mary Bowen of Arizona, Frederick Ezekiel of Hudson, New Hampshire, the late Catherine Fennell, Peter and Joseph Ezekiel.

Bill's Funeral will be held on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Friday March 6, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
