Obituary

Mrs. Frances Gail Alewine, 62, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, March 6 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alewine was born August 22, 1946 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Archie and Hazel Howell Crumpton. She lived in the community most of her life and was a former resident of Abbeville. Mrs. Alewine was a homemaker and a former employee of the Life Care Center and Taylor’s Convenience Store. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Alewine of Fitzgerald; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Ellis Green of Rebecca, Christina & Donnie White of Fitzgerald, Cecillia & Mark Brooks of Abbeville and Angela “Melissa” Alewine & Scott Brown of Fitzgerald; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie & Penny Alewine of Fitzgerald; stepson, Jimmy Ellis Black of Fitzgerald; 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; stepmother, Shirley Crumpton of Nashville; sisters, Polly Griffin of Lenox, Wanda Reynolds of Fitzgerald and Diane Wade of Nashville; brothers, Jerry Stetz of Fitzgerald, David Smith of Tifton, Jimmy Crumpton and Wayne Crumpton both of Jonesboro; step brothers, Eddie Flowers and Stanley Flowers both of Nashville; stepsister, Joyce Getchell of Nashville as well as several nieces and nephews.
