Obituary

Mr. Ira Peter Eastwood, 81, passed away Monday March 2nd surrounded by his family.

He was born October 16, 1927 in Lowell, Massachusetts a son of the late Charles and Frances(Lambert) Eastwood.

Ira was schooled in the Lowell school system and left to serve his country at the end of WWII during the occupation of Japan.

He returned to graduate from the Mass Collage of Pharmacy after which he brought his amazing sense of compassion to a profession that was such a part of his life. He began his career at Plunkett Drug store in Dracut, and then became the bedrock pharmacist at Birch Super Drug.

At the age of 58, Ira moved to Florida and in one of his proudest moments, passed his Florida pharmacy boards to continue a career at Walgreens Pharmacy. He remained there for almost 20 years, when he came back home in 2005 to share many special moments with his family.

Ira’s joy of family and friends, his cribbage prowess and his devotion to God, are a testament to a life well lived. A man full of vim-vigor, zip and pep and go-go-go.

He leaves the most beautiful wife that shared his zest for life, Pauline(Vincent) B. Eastwood and the stewards who carry his legacy, David and Mary Eastwood of Pembroke, Karen and James Gallagher of Lowell, Ike and Kathy Eastwood of North Andover, and Patrick and Janet Eastwood of Andover/Hong Kong. The grandchildren that remember his warm embrace are Kerry, John, Lynne and Erin Gallagher; Ele, Eme and Ane Eastwood; and Kate, Ethan and John Eastwood; a sister, Eleanor Purpura of Florida; also many nieces and nephews.

Ira was the brother to the late Charles and John Eastwood, Frances Delaney, and Jane Rochon.
