Obituary

Charles A. Webster, 77, of Wray, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.

Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, March 7, 2009 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Douglas with Roger Lowery officiating. Private interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery at Fitzgerald.

Mr. Webster was born May 8, 1931 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Jesse Cleveland and Elizabeth McClain Webster. He was a 1950 graduate of Columbus High School and a self-employed carpenter. He had lived in the Wray community for the past 15 years coming from Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Webster was a volunteer in the Prison Ministry serving at the Coffee County Prison in Nichols. He was baptized 58 years ago as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had served faithfully as an elder.

Mr. Webster is survived by his wife of 51 years: Sandra Griffin Webster of Wray; two sons: William Mark Webster of Wray and Cole Andrew Webster of Orlando, FL; brother and sister-in-law: Philip & Judy Webster of Deltona, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lois Gradic of Columbus, Ruth & Lamar Benford of Wichita Falls, TX, and Julia & Charles Green of Stone Mountain; as well as a sister-in-law: Martha Webster of Phenix City, AL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Cleveland Webster and David Webster and three sisters: Audrey Webster, Miriam Brunson, and Naomi Granito.
