DRACUT- Blanche (Gucwa) Urbanek, 94, a lifelong resident of Dracut, died Wednesday February 25th at Wingate at Lowell, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Thaddeus P. Urbanek, who died in 1996.
She was born in Dracut on June 14, 1914, and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Victoria (Janik) Gucwa. She received her education in Dracut schools.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Urbanek was employed by the former Grace Shoe, as well as the former Giant Store, both in Lowell.
In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, listening to radio talk shows, and watching cooking shows on the Food Network.
She was the beloved mother of Richard Urbanek of Santa Clara, CA, Carol J. Borst of Dracut, and Arlene Danahy and her husband Raymond of Lawrence; the cherished grandmother of John Danahy of Dracut, Susan Knight and her husband Robert of Chelmsford, Stephen Borst and his wife Amy of Alfred, ME, and Michael Borst and his wife Sheila of Townsend; the adoring great grandmother of seven; a sister Viola Zurawski of N. Andover; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John Gucwa, Ted Gucwa, and Helen Panek.
Mrs. Urbanek's family wishes to thank the Wingate staff for their loving care and support.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Saturday from 9 until 10:30 AM, to be followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Church on High St. in Lowell.
