ERNST, WILLARD, 84, passed from this life Tuesday, February 24, 2009, after a short battle with cancer.
Mr. Ernst was a World War II Navy veteran and a retired traffic manager with the H.J. Scheirich Company in Louisville. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and Senior Friendship Club.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Doris; and five children, Gayle, Dave (Sandy), Kathy, Steve (Kathy) and Mike (Marcie). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lori Ebel (Eric), Julie Bealmear (Jon), Megan and Erin Ernst; five great-grandchildren, Parker, Tyler, Chloe, Jackson, and Grayson; stepsister, Virginia Sears; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ernst; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Mohammad Khan and his staff, the Audubon Oncology Unit, and staff at Park Terrace.
His service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 7724 Columbine Drive, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
