Selma Hogan Alexander, 96, of Bartow, Florida, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Rohr Home in Bartow.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County. She will lie-in-state from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Alexander was born March 12, 1913 in Ocilla to the late John W. and Janie Ewing Hogan. She grew up in Ocilla before moving to Winter Haven, Florida in 1952 and made her home in Bartow, Florida for the past several years. She was a homemaker and a former employee of the Diana Shop in Winter Haven, FL. Mrs. Alexander was co-founder of Haven Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and painting.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her children and their spouses, Johnny & Virginia Alexander, Interlachen, FL, Audrey & Bob Cauthen, Tifton, Carol & Diane Alexander, Haines City, FL, Elaine & David Sheffield, Winter Haven, FL and William J. Alexander, Lake Alfred, FL; 17 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Alexander and two sons, Alvin and Leo.
