Obituary


NEW BEDFORD — Born on October 31, 1916, Mabel Charlotte (Davis) Taylor lived in New Bedford all of her life, except during WWII when she and her husband were in Casper, Wyoming and Albuquerque, New Mexico where her husband was stationed. Mabel died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at home after an extended illness.

A 1934 graduate of New Bedford High School and later Bryant College, Mabel began her career as a business representative with New Bedford Telephone Company and ended it with 20 years as a teacher's aide in New Bedford Schools. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, Melvin D. Taylor, Mabel is survived by two children, Linda Taylor (married to William Monigle) of Venice, Florida and Barbara Taylor (married to Allen Monsarrat) of Knoxville, Tennessee; three surviving grandchildren, Gail Dexter of Pembroke, N.H., Todd Skoglund of Boston, Ma., and Allison Farnum of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and a great-granddaughter, Annelise Dexter of N.H. She is also survived by a large extended and cherished Taylor family including brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and the children and grandchildren of those nieces and nephews.

Her Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, Feb. 26th at 2 P.M., in Grace Church, County and Schools Sts., NB.
