Jeannette V. (Lajoie) Auclair, 76, of Florida St, Woonsocket, died Sunday at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the loving wife of the late Armand O. Auclair who died in 2002.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Sevigny) Lajoie. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Auclair was a Past Unit, State, and National President of the Franco-American War Veterans Auxiliary. She was the Past President of the St. Joseph’s Veterans Auxiliary, and Past Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack 6 of St. Joseph’s Parish. She was also the Past President of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and a member of the Royal Travelers. She worked at TTI Testron and retired in 1999 from Everett Charles, Inc.
Jeannette’s life revolved around her family to whom she was completely devoted.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Marie Lussier of Woonsocket, Lea Wolfgang of Blackstone, Debra-Ann Wolfgang of Clarkston, MI, a step-daughter Estelle Sevigny of Woonsocket. four sons, Armand M. Auclair of Montgomery, VT., Andre R. Auclair of Pascoag, Adrien R. Auclair of Malden, and Allen L. Auclair of Woonsocket. She was the sister of the late Arthur and Jean Lajoie, and Rachel F. Lafontaine. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter will be at a later date. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to VNS of Greater RI, 6 Blackstone Valley Pl.
