Lawrence “Shorty” Vaughn, 86, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital –NMS in Oxford, MS. He was born in Water Valley, MS to the late Elmer and Zulene Allen Vaughn. “Shorty” served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII. He was a retired supervisor for Kimberly Clark and a member of the First Christian Church in Water Valley, MS.
A visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 conducted by Bro. James West. The committal service will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Water Valley, MS.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by two daughters, Donna Pittman of Walls, MS and Katherine Riley of Horn Lake, MS; one son, Lawrence E. Vaughn, Jr. of Centerville, OH; four sisters, Mildred Carter of Memphis, TN, Jane Mixon of Southaven, MS, Pat Mixon of Oxford, MS and Joann Carlisle of Water Valley, MS; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Mixon and a brother, George Vaughn.
