Maria S. (Santos) Andrade, 100, of New Bedford died Sunday June 1, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Anibal Andrade.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Fortunato and Ravana (Missini) dosSantos, she lived in Brava for many years until moving to New Bedford in 1966.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Survivors include 2 sons, Carlos S. Andrade and Sinis Andrade, both of New Bedford; 4 sisters, Zelinda Mendes, Patrucina Santos, and Angela Fernandes, all of Brockton, and Benvinda DePina of Brava; 6 grandchildren, Leidi Andrade, Anibal Andrade, David Andrade, Michael Andrade, Carlos Andrade Jr., and Anthony Andrade; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.She was the grandmother of the late John Carlos Andrade and Robert Andrade, and sister of the late Alicia Santos and Manuel Santos.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordWednesday June 4, 2003 at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday June 3, 2003 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
