Sara Cobb Jolley, 87, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 22, 2009. The relatives and friends of Ms. Jolley are invited to attend her funeral services at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel in Charleston, South Carolina. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Ms. Jolley was born January 31, 1922 in Anderson, South Carolina and was the daughter of Thomas Elmo Jolley and Mary Berry Cobb Jolley, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Elmo Jolley III, and her sister, Virginia Jolley Kraft.
She retired from the United States Navy as a nurse. She graduated from Georgia State College for Women and worked three years with University Hospital in Augusta. Ms. Jolley worked one year at New York University as a public health nurse. She was a former member of the American Nurses Association and the Businesss and Personal Women’s Association.
Most recently, Ms. Jolley was a member of the Retired Officer’s Association, Navy Nurse Corps Association, Palmetto Chapter and Seniors Club of Mount Pleasant. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church for 44 years.
Ms. Jolley is survived by her sister, Wyleen Jolley Corbett of Spartanburg, South Carolina; nephews, Thomas Jolley Kraft and his wife, Sara, of Charleston, South Carolina, Jim Corbett of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Warren Corbett of Maryland; and her niece Cyndi Beacham of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
