Obituary

Richard A. Allard, 56, of Brien’s Ct., died Friday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Claire T. (Desmarais) Allard to whom he was married on April 27, 1974.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Arthur A. and Cecile L. (Gagne) Allard. He was raised in Albion and resided in Woonsocket for the past 35 years. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1971.
Mr. Allard worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Providence for the past 22 years. He previously worked for Ann & Hope in Cumberland for over 15 years.
He was a member of the Cumberland Jaycees for several years and was a longtime member of the American French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket.
Richard was passionate about music. He was a devoted husband and father and cherished his role as a grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, he is survived by two sons, Brian K. Allard, and his wife Kimberly, and Matthew R. Allard, and his wife Brandy, all of Woonsocket, a daughter, Amy Morell, and her husband Robert, of Clayton, NC., a sister, Suzanne D. Arsenault, of Woonsocket. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Katherine Allard, Daniel and Emily Morell, and Haleigh Allard, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Homestead Group, 68 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, RI. 02895.
