Fairhaven – Helena B. (Honneyman) Preece, 90, of Fairhaven died at home in the care of her family and Hospice, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s on February 21, 2009. She was the widow of Curtis A. Preece.
Mrs. Preece was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Victor E. N. and Sarah W. (Tripp) Honneyman, and resided all of her life in the greater New Bedford area. She graduated from New Bedford Vocational School in 1937 and married the late Curtis A. Preece in 1941. Helena will be remembered by her family and friends as being “gentle, sweet and friendly to all”.
She is survived by her three children: Mary Ann Preece of New Bedford, Ellery D. Preece and his wife Brenda of E. Freetown, and Curtis A. Preece, Jr. of Fairhaven; 6 grandchildren: Eric W. Souza, Sherry A. Chagnon, Joshua N. Garcia, Matthew C. P. Garcia, Travis Rebello and Curtis A. Preece III; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Victor and Edward Honneyman, Sadie Amaral and Alice Rodrigues.
