Obituary

TAUNTON – Raymond P. Emond, husband of the late Dorothy (Mendonca) Emond, died at Morton Hospital on Feb. 21, 2009.
He was 83.
Born in Taunton, the son of the late John and Mary (Mador) Emond, he was educated in Taunton schools.
An Army veteran of WW II, he fought with the 4th Division of the 12th Infantry during 4 campaigns, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, as well as the Combat Infantryman Badge, the EAMET Campaign Ribbon, the Army Occupation Medal of Germany and the Victory Medal.
Later, after working as a polisher for Reed & Barton Silversmiths, he worked for the former Gorham/Textron Co. for over 25 years, retiring at the age of 62.
A communicant of St. Andrew Church, he was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Ghost Society.
He leaves 2 sons, Barry A. Emond of Swansea and Phillip R. Emond of Fall River; 2 daughters, Valorie Ann Emond and Melody Marie Carvalho, both of Taunton; a brother, Wilfred Emond of Mansfield; a sister, Doris Overlock of Berkley; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late Roger, Albert, John and Joseph “Leo” Emond.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Feb. 25th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew Church, 261 Tremont St. Taunton at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, Feb. 24th from 5 to 8 p.m.
