Obituary

In Taunton, February 16, 2009 John T. Wade (Buddy Sherry), a loving husband of Sylvia C. (Melahoures), son of the late John W. Wade and Elizabeth Sherry Wade, grandson of the late Jeremiah Wade and Mary Connelly Wade and also Katherine Fitzgerald Wade, grandson of the late Thomas H. Sherry and Susan Jackson Sherry, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Brother to Margaret Wade Arcikowski of Yarmouthport, Ma., father to Rena Elizabeth Wade and Margaret Mary Wade, both of Medford, Ma., and John Timothy Wade of Taunton, Ma. “Granpaw” of Samantha Elizabeth Smith. John attended local catholic school graduating from I.C.S. grammer After graduating from N.B. Vocational High School John worked as an electrician. John served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany with the 3160th Sig Bn as a lineman in open wire construction. He retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local union #235. John was a long standing member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and Disabled Veterans of America. John enjoyed Sundays with his children, teaching them to fish, going to the park, and walking in the woods. He loved to cook (and eat!). He always enjoyed a good meal out at restaurants with his family. He loved taking long walks on crisp autumn days, and he loved to travel. A tall cold beer on a warm day made him happy. First and foremost, John loved being with his family and would do anything to see them happy. John will be lovingly remembered by his children as a man who taught them when to trust, when to stand up for themselves, when to forgive and most importantly how to love. John faced many challenges of his life with courage and dignity. His strength and loving presence will be missed by all who knew him. John will be staying at the St. Francis underground hotel, section 11, suite 215. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma. on Thursday, February 19th at 10am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, former St Paul’s Parish at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
