TEWKSBURY - Leo Facchini, age 89, a retired restaurant manager, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 15th, at the Hospice Suites at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Eleanor G. (Constanzo) Facchini, and died on the 67th anniversary of their wedding day, February 15th, 1942.
He was born in Somerville, September 9, 1919, one of five children of Caesar and Ida (Suffritti) Facchini. He was raised in Somerville, lived in Woburn from 1958 until 1999, when he moved to the Eagles Landing community in Tewksbury.
His career was in the hotel and restaurant business, beginning as a bus boy, advancing to waiter, then Matre'd, and finally manager. He spent 25 years at Dinty Moore's Restaurant in Boston, and then Walter's Restaurant in Brookline.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria Devoe and her husband Ted of N.J., Linda Landers and her husband Don of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, Mischel Hanstrom and Deena Weller of CO, Scott Weller of NJ, Tara Peterson of Chelmsford, Michael Facchini of Wakefield, Eric Facchini of FL; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Leo P. Facchini, and brother of the late Bruno and Frank "Ace" Facchini, Lena Celli, and Evelyn Cascio.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Feb. 19, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorials to Saints Medical Center, Hospice Suites, c/o Development Office, 1 Hospital Dr., Lowell, MA 01852, will be appreciated.
