Robert M. Fletcher Sr., 66, of Medfield, passed on peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Metro West Medical Center in Natick. He was the longtime companion of Beverly J. Anderson of Medfield.
Born in Milford on April 30, 1942, he was a son of the late Harry M. and Alfreda (Nichols) Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher was a resident of Medfield for the past 25 years and formerly resided in Medway.
Before his retirement, he was a tractor trailer truck driver for N.E. Motor Freight in Milford and also formerly at G.A.F. in Millis.
Mr. Fletcher was a friend of Bill W. for 26 years. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Besides his former companion, he is survived by four children, William E. Fletcher and his wife, Amy of Bellingham, Robert M. Fletcher Jr., of Medway, Christine R. Fletcher of Medway and Timothy M. Fletcher and his wife, Leanne of Mendon.
He is also survived by a sister, Edith LaBounty of Blackstone, a brother, Charles Fletcher of Duxbury, his twin-sister, Ruth Doliner of Millis, two granddaughters, Chelsea and Amanda Fletcher and his former spouse, Caroline (Elliott) Fletcher.
He was a brother of the late Harold, John “Bill” and Earl Fletcher and Dorothy Osier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, February 18 at 10 a.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Medway at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 -8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
