Obituary

Edward H. Fournier, 86 years of Brockton, died peacefully February 13, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Bridgewater. He was the beloved husband of the late Pearl (Salvatore) Fournier. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of Horace and Rena (Mitchell) Fournier. He was a veteran of WWII who served with the Army’s 933rd Signal Battalion, in the China-Burma-India Theatre. He retired as foreman from the Brockton Water Department after 30 years. Following his retirement he was a courier for Goddard Medical Associates; worked at Catholic Charities and was also a barber. Prior to his wife’s death he and Pearl traveled extensively, enjoyed ballroom dancing, and continued to be active in CBI veteran’s activities. He was also very artistic; many of his drawings appeared in the Shoe City News Letters. He was musical, playing a variety of instruments, and was involved with Senior Citizens activities in Brockton.

He is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Rogers) Medeiros of Bridgewater and Gail Campbell of Warwick, RI; two grandsons Jason and Joel Campbell of Warwick, RI and his son-in-law Warren Medeiros. Also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring his life to be held at Calvary Chapel, 175 Market Street (Rte 123) Rockland on Thursday February 19 at 6:30pm. Following the service the family will meet with guests in the church fellowship room. A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 W. Chestnut St., #301, Brockton, MA 02301 or Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
