Obituary

John Joseph Tymvakiewiz, 86, a long time resident of Andover and North Andover passed away February 11, 2008, with family by his side.
Born in North Andover on October 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Stefan and Marciana (Cuter) Tymvakiewicz. A veteran of World War II who served with the US Army attached to the 166th Engr Combat Battalion in France. After suffering service related injuries he was Honorably Discharged and prior to retirement worked as a male nurse for over twenty years at the Danvers State Hospital.

A horse racing enthusiast who spent many years enjoying the ponies at Rockingham and Suffolk Downs.

He is survived by a loving niece, Maryann (Tymvakiewiz) Dolloff and her husband, George Dolloff of Lowell; a sister Alice Szelest of Atkinson; nieces Helen Lynch, Dorothy Georges, Phyllis Furani and Claudia Dupuis; nephews John Jablonski and Jack Szelest; a great niece Cheryl Haley Beaudry of Lowell; a great niece Karen (Haley) Flynn and her husband, Thomas of Lowell; a great nephew John Haley and his wife Kristine of Tyngsboro; a great nephew Paul Haley and his wife, Diedre of Lowell. Great great nieces and nephews Haley, Ella, Lola, Fiona, Emo, Jake, Nathaniel and Aleksandr. And a dear friend Tammy and her children Bianca and Roberto of Andover.

He was the former husband of the late Dorothy Stone and brother of the late Francis Ann Rita Tymvakiewiz of Lawrence/Lowell, Mary Bobek, Stella Mandry, Albert Tymvakiewicz and Helen Jablonski.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick Church, Broadway, Lawrence, Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held on Monday, February 16, 2009, in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Lowell Salvation Army, 150 Appleton Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
