Obituary

Mr. Robert D. Wright, age 62, of Woburn passed away suddenly February 8th while working in Mexico. He was the beloved husband of Joan E. (Cogan) with whom he shared forty years of marriage. Born in Malden he was the son of Estelle (Azzari) of Woburn and the late James B. Wright.

"Beau" as he was known to his family and many friends was a Woburn resident his entire life. He was a member of the first graduating class of Arlington Catholic High School in 1964 and was a member of the football team. Beau was licensed machinist and learned his trade apprenticing at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Most recently he worked as a Project Manager for Gates Mectrol overseeing engineering projects and orchestrating the logistics of an entire facility move to Mexico. Beau had been employed by Gates Mectrol and its predecessors for 28 years. During this time, he literally touched the hearts of everyone he came in to contact with. He was a motivational influence and well respected by the entire organization. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, spending time at the beach and Saturday luncheons with his wife. One of his biggest joys was the Thanksgiving Holiday when he would host the entire family and many friends for the numerous deep fried turkeys he would prepare. Mostly devoted to his loving family and friends, Beau will be greatly missed.

In addition to his late father, he is predeceased by his brother, the late Jim Wright. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan, daughter, Kathy Armstrong and her husband Scott of Haverhill, sons, Kevin and Gabriel Wright both of Woburn. He was the adoring grandfather of 2 month old twin granddaughters, Hannah and Grace Armstrong. Brother-in-law of Lynda Odams. Tommy McDonough and his late wife Nancy, Hub and Robyn Cogan, Donna and Steve Haney, Robert Cogan and Dee Lapenta, Patty and Loren Melton, and Deborah Cogan.

His funeral service will be conducted from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, at 9 a.m. followed by a memorial mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 3 thru 7. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that flowers respectfully be omitted and memorial contributions may be made in Beau's memory to the Winchester Hospital Special Care Nursery, 41 Highland Rd., Winchester, MA 01890.
