New Bedford-Santiago Jorge age 84 years died Sunday February 8th at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved widow of Clara (Talavera) Jorge. Santiago was the loved father of Dolores Jorge, Milagro Jorge, Daisy Jorge all of New Bedford, and the late Diana Jorge. He was the brother of Maria Velasquez and Mirita Maldanado both of New Bedford, and the late Anita Acevedo, Margarita Alejandro and Rosendo Jorge. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren 12 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jorge was the son of the late Juan and Jovita (Rodriquez) Jorge. He was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and lived in this area for 57 years. He worked for the City of New Bedford as a laborer. He also worked as a harvester for Ocean Spray Cranberry during cranberry season.
Mr. Jorge’s Funeral Services will be at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Thursday at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery Visiting will be Wednesday from 7-9 P.M.
