Obituary

Kurt M. Ohnemus, 49, of Medway died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Metro West Medical Center in Natick. He was the beloved husband of Elaine A. (Borek) Ohnemus for the past 24 years.

Born in Framingham on March 20, 1959, he was a son of Edward Ohnemus of Highland, CA and Lorraine (Lemire) Ohnemus of Hendersonville, NC. Kurt was a resident of Medway since 1992.

Kurt graduated from Holliston High School in 1977 and Coyne Electrical School. For the past year and a half, he was an electrician at Dean College in Franklin. He had formerly owned his own electrical business in Medway for 15 years.

A former Scout Master of Troop 108, Kurt was very active in the Boy Scouts in Medway and was also a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed the outdoors; especially camping, canoeing and kayaking.

Kurt loved having his annual summer party at his home and was well-known for his Christmas lights at his home on Holliston Street.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Janine and three sons, Kevin, Steven and David, all of Medway.

He is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Ohnemus of San Diego, CA and Melissa Ohnemus of Fort Collins, CO, a brother, Eric Ohnemus and his wife, Karen of Alpharetta, GA, two nieces and seven nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway on Friday, February 13 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kurt’s memory to the Ohnemus Children’s Education Fund c/o Strata Bank, 81 Main St., Medway, MA 02053.
