Flora Elizabeth (Liz) Nally, age 51, died unexpectedly after a brief illness the night of February 7th. Devoted mother of Ryan, 19, Conor, 16 and Collin, 11 and beloved wife of Michael for 22 years, she will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Liz’s family was the center of her life. She was born in Connecticut, raised in California and Hingham, and was the daughter of the late William P. (of New York) and Flora (Musselwhite) Canning (of North Carolina). She leaves behind her dear Aunt Vada and Uncle Herbert Dowless, a brother Peter M. Canning and his wife Carolyn (Carrie) Krasnow of New York and an extended family in North Carolina. In addition, she was the daughter-in-law of the late Peg and Joe Nally, sister-in-law to Ellen Nally Brown and Edward Brown of Hingham, MA; Martin and Cheryl (Craven) Nally of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA; Joseph Nally and Debra Henry of Castine, ME; Catherine Nally Mirra and Robert Mirra of Florida and Patrick Nally and Elaine Clark of Marblehead, MA. She is also survived by many loving aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Taken from this life at such a young age, Liz was a true gift to all those around her. She epitomized her zest for life by living amongst her family and friends at her favorite place – the beach. Her creativity, impeccable taste, love of historical beauty and simple things is evident in the beautiful home she created for her family. As a mother of three active boys, Liz spent countless hours at numerous sporting events every year, loving every minute. She recently began running again and finished two road races this past year. Liz married Michael, the love of her life, in 1987, after graduating from Hingham High School in 1975. A loving wife and mother, sister, friend, neighbor – a truly wonderful person who will be forever cherished in the memories of all those whose life she touched in her own gentle way.
