Obituary

Roland H. Fortin, age 81 of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at his home in Lowell. For 57 years, he was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (Letourneau) Fortin.

He was born in Lowell, May 12, 1927 the son of the late Samuel and Aurore (Heroux) Fortin. Roland was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

Prior to his retirement, Roland worked with the Massachusetts Highway Dept for several years. Prior to that time, he was employed as a courier with Union National Bank in Lowell for several years and was also a route salesman for Sunbeam Bread Company for 28 years. He was a member of the Lafayette Club and the Club Passe Temp.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Priscilla and William Brostek of Nashua and Denise and Albert Desmarais of Dracut; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Marie Fortin of Mason, NH; a sister, Irene Morin of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Claire Fortin of Lowell; also 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jeannette Gagne and Leo and Raymond Fortin.

At his request, Funeral Services will be held privately at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
