Thomas O. Murphy , 65 of Burlington, died Tuesday at the Brigham And Women's Hospital.He was the son of the late Patrick and the late Marie (Moran) Murphy.
Tom was born in Cambridge, attended Belmont Schools and Boston College and has lived in Burlington for the last 35 years. He started Eagle Golf Co., and Tom Murphy Golf Co. and was an honorary member of the PGA.
Tom was recently honored by the Professional Golf Association of America last October at a night in his honor to setup a scholarship fund in his name to benefit students in their college careers. Tom was a member of the Weston Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife Jean (Porter) Murphy, three children, Jean Marie Worob of Wilmington, Susan Ursino of Basking Ridge, NJ. and Patrick Murphy of Brighton, four grandchildren, Samantha and Thomas Worob and Abigail and Elizabeth Ursino. Also survived by three sisters, Marie Murphy, Patricia Buck and Kathleen Allen all of Belmont.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday at 9AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Margaret Church, 109 Winn St., Burlington at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thurs 4-9 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Pinehaven Cemetery, Burlington.
