Barbara A. Joyce, 76, of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 in the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. Mrs. Joyce was born in Rockport, MA on July 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Toppan) Thomas. She was a resident of Londonderry since 1955, formerly living in Derry Village, NH. Mrs. Joyce was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, Class of 1950 and had attended Hesser Business College in Manchester. She was employed by Bartlett and Shepard Insurance and then Benway-Johnston Insurance, both in Derry. Mrs. Joyce had been a member and past president of the NH Women's Insurance League. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and going to ball games. Mrs. Joyce was a member of St. Mark's Church in Londonderry.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Joyce of Londonderry; three sons, Leslie B. Joyce of Londonderry, John T. Joyce of Texas, and Bruce A. Joyce of Exeter, NH; one daughter, Valerie Ann Young of Derry; four grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, February 12th from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday at 10:00am in St. Mark's Church, corner of Mammoth Rd. and South Rd., Londonderry. The burial followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
