Robert J. Parker, 83, passed away at home in Marlborough on February 7th, 2009. He was born in Everett on April 30th, 1925 to his parents Alfred and Grace (Gower) Parker. Robert was raised and educated in Medford. At the age of 16 he enlisted in the United States Army. Robert served his country honorably during World War II. He was involved in many campaigns including Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Among his other medals received, Robert was also a recipient of the Silver Star. For over 20 years he worked as an Elevator Operator at the South Postal Annex in South Boston. Robert spent most of his life living in Medford. In 1995, he and his wife Mary Lou moved to Marlborough. He was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden and Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough. He is survived by his son, Joseph G. Parker and his wife Vicki of Marlborough; by his grandchildren, Joseph M. Parker of Marlborough and Kelliann Parker and her fiancé Scott Gallagher of Derry, NH; by his great granddaughter Lillian Theresa Gallagher; and by his brother, Leonard Parker of Cape Cod. Robert was predeceased by his wife Mary Lou (Barry) Parker. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday February 11th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough. In lieu of flowers, Robert requested that donations in his memory may be made towards a scholarship fund for his great granddaughter Lillian Theresa Gallagher, c/o Village Bank, 411 Watertown St., Newton, MA 02458.
