Harold Jacobs of Chelsea passed away suddenly on February 9th, 2009 at the Lahey clinic. He was 78 years old. Born in Winthrop, MA he moved to Chelsea where he was a resident most of his life. Harold attended the Chelsea schools and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1949.
Harold was the Director of Maintenance Services for Tewksbury Hospital prior to retirement. Harold also worked security part time for the Boston Herald for many years. Harold was an avid Red sox fan and a member of the BoSox Club. He loved watching wrestling among many other hobbies Harold enjoyed. He was also a member of the State Retirement Association.
Harold was the beloved husband of Harriet (Rubin) Jacobs. Devoted father of Ellyn Goss, Sheri Quint and her husband Michael, and Marci Demelis and her husband Ken. Loving son of the late Wilfred (Pebbles) and Annette Jacobs, and loving son in law of the late Harry and Frances Rubin. Loving grandfather of Stacey, Geoffrey, Eric, David, and Bryan. Harold is also survived by 2 great grandchildren.
A Chapel service will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea on Wed Feb 11th, at 1 PM. Interment will be in Melrose. Memorial observance will be held at his late residence, Wed. Feb 11th following interment and Thurs. Feb 12th from 2-8 PM. In Lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Foundation, 17 Lafayette Ave., Chelsea, MA 02150.
