Obituary

Jane F. (Carroll) McLaughlin, 82, of Abington, died peacefully February 8th at the South Shore Rehabilitation Center in Rockland, after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife for sixty two years to the late Charles P. McLaughlin who died on December 21, 2008. She was born and brought up in Boston, daughter of the late George Carroll and Maryann (Toulman) Carroll. Jane was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston and the Goddard Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at the South Shore Hospital for 34 years in the Maternity Ward. She has been a resident of Abington since 1954 and a member of the St. Bridget Church, in Abington for many years. Jane was a loving mother, dedicated to her family, an avid reader with a love for history, a gardener and a world class embroiderer. She also loved to travel to Cape Cod with her husband.

She was the loving mother of her five daughters, Jane Graham and her husband Craig of Whitman, Barbara Rose and her husband Edward, Danice Ewell and her husband David all of Rockland, Marlena Derosier and her husband Norman ”Colie” of Bridgewater and Maryann Somontes and her husband Philip of Abington, her sister Barbara McLean of South Carolina her loving sister-in-law Carmen Trujillo of Miami, FL ; also grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 9. She was also the sister of the late Edward and George Carroll

Her services will be held on Thursday February 12th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 AM in the St. Bridget Church in Abington. Internment will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rockland, MA. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday February 11th from 4:00-8:00PM. Donations may be made to the Hospice Services of Massachusetts, 577 Main Street, Wareham, MA 02571.
