Obituary

LOWELL - Argeroula "Aris" (Geladares) Tsitsipas, 85, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Monday, February 2nd at Saints Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Athanasios "Arthur" Tsitsipas, who died in 2001.

She was born in Manchester, NH on May 20, 1923, and she was a daughter of the late Efthemios and Athena (Liakas) Geladares. At the age of 6, she moved with her family to Amegdalies, Greece, and lived there until 1961, when she moved back to the United States with a family of her own.

Prior to her retirement in 1975, Mrs. Tsitsipas was employed for many years as a dress maker by Jay Dress Company and Robert Leonard Dress Company, both in Lowell.

Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and taking care of them. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.

She was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and was a member of the Transfiguration Ladies Philoptochos Society.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stergios "Steve" and Kalliopi Tsitsipas of Shelton, CT, Demetrios "Jim" and Annmarie Tsitsipas of Lowell, and Efthemios "Tim" Tsitsipas of Lowell; two grandchildren Argeroula "Iris" Tsitsipas and her companion Louie Kacavas, both of Lowell, and Elizabeth delaTorre and her husband Cesar of Dracut; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Olga delaTorre; a sister, Vasiliki "Bessie" Spanos of N. Chelmsford; a brother, Zissis Geladares and his wife Stella of Amegdalies, Greece; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

She was also the sister of the late Anastasia Dilmas, and the sister-in-law of the late George Spanos.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 9 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 10 AM at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Transfiguration Ladies Philoptochos Society, Fr. John Sarantos Way, Lowell, MA 01854.
