Obituary

George F. Thompson, Jr. 90 years of West Bridgewater died February 2, 2009 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Barbara F. (Gray) Thompson. Born and raised in Brockton, son of the late George F. and Luisa T. (LaGarde) Thompson. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1938.George had been employed by New England Life Insurance Company as a claims supervisor and had previously been employed by Knapp Shoe Company and United Yarn Division of the Barbour Welting Company. He had been a member of the New England Order of Protection; was one of the founders and charter members of St. John’s Council, Knights of Columbus of East Bridgewater, and a member of the Garde D’Honuoeur French semi military drill team. He enjoyed arts and crafts and sold his artwork at many craft fairs.

He is survived by his daughters Florence Marchand and her husband Eugene of Salem, and Alma Keene and her husband Roland of West Bridgewater; eight grandchildren, Michael Marchand, Eugene Marchand, Jr., Michelle Dearborn, Lynette Horsman, Russell Keene, Janet McGrail, Mark Keene and Jennifer Keene; 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a sister Dorothy English and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gus Thompson.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 9am. Funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-7pm.
