Salem: Roland A. Pinault, age 84 of Salem, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Grosvenor Park Nursing Center in Salem, following a long illness. He was the husband of May C. (LeBlanc) Pinault and together the couple shared 64 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Omer J. and Rose (Dandurand) Pinault. Educated in Salem Schools, he was a member of the notorious Salem High Class of ’41. During W.W. II, he served in the North Atlantic with the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the cutter Storis.
Rollie retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. Human Resources Department with over 43 years of service with the company. He was past president of the Telephone Pioneer Council and Chapter and served as Assistant to the Regional Vice President of the Telephone Pioneers for several years.
Always a man with a mission, Rollie was past commander VFW, Witch City Post 1524. He also served on the board of the Salem Chapter of the Red Cross, was a 10 year member of the Salem Redevelopment Authority, as well as member of the Salem Kiwanis Club. Since 1960 he was general chairman of the Salem High School Class of ’41 Reunion Committee and was recently inducted into the SHS Hall of Fame and named Volunteer Man of the Year. He was also active in Ste. Anne Parish and was a past president of the Holy Name Society and the Archdiocesan Union in Boston.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Jeanne Marie Danilczuk and her husband William of Stratham, NH, Judith Ware and her husband Ralph of Salem, 3 sons: Richard Pinault and his wife Pamela of Kezar Falls, ME, Raymond Pinault and his wife Nancy of Windsor, CT, Roland A. Pinault, II and his wife Amy of Bella Vista, AR, a brother, C. Henry Pinault of California, a sister, Lorraine Girard and her husband Rene of Peabody. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Watson.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 8:30 am at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10 am. Visiting hours: Thursday 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ste.
