Mary Weatherford Fleming, a Baptist, was called Home by her Lord on Monday, February 2, 2009. She was 86 years of age. Mrs. Fleming is the widow of George R.Fleming, Sr., who predeaceased her on November 27, 2005. She is survived by her son, George R. Fleming Jr. and his wife Margaret, Clarksville, TN; her daughter, Cynthia (Cyd) F. Joplin and her husband, Tom, Clarksville, TN; and 4 grandchildren, Justin Morgan Lehman, Lauren O'Neil Fleming , Tyler Fleming Lehman and Blaire O'Neil Fleming. A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Shrine of Memories Chapel at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Roger P. Freeman officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Prior to the chapel service, the family will receive visitors at Neal-Tarpley Funeral home from noon until 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Fleming was born March 8, 1922 in Gallatin, Sumner County, TN the daughter of Roy Wilson Weatherford and Lena Bell Morris. In addition to her husband, she was predeaceased by her parents; her brothers: Dewey Weatherford, Roy W. Weatherford, Jr., Edward (Buddy) F. Weatherford; and a sister, Helen Weatherford Dycus. Mrs. Fleming lived most of her adult life in Clarksville, having come from Gallatin with her husband and son in March 1952. She gave birth to her daughter while living in Clarksville. She was active in a number of civic organizaations and served as the Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Aside from community service and her family, Mrs. Fleming had 2 passions: playing golf and mowing the grass on her riding lawnmower. She embraced these passions until her health would no longer permit. Mrs. Fleming died peacefully in her home a Christian; a devoted widow; a good mother; and a proud grandmother. She will be missed by her family and those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the coordinated effort of local churches to aid the homeless known as the Room at the Inn.
