Opal D. Edmondson, 95, Clarksville, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Montgomery Care and Rehab. The funeral will be held at 4 PM Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Geoffrey Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Edmondson was born in Guthrie KY, on Jan. 13, 1914, daughter of William Marion Davis and Sinia Carnes Davis. She was married to William Edmondson, former Mayor of Clarksville and State Representative of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Herman Davis, two sisters, Ruby Kelly and Pearl Roberts. Mrs. Edmondson was the owner of Montgomery Hotel and Royal York Hotel and the former owner of Edmondson Bonding Company. She was a member of Madison Street Church of Christ. She is survived by various nieces and nephews including Billy Weems, Kathleen Allwine and special friends, Mayor and Mrs. John E. Piper, daughters Heather Piper Coke (John), Sarah Piper and Jane Owen. Memorials can be made to Madison Street Church of Christ, 523 Madison Street, Clarksville, Tn. 37040.
