Daniel J. Johnson, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a painful battle with a rare illness. He was 48 years old.
Danny was born in Boston on August 10, 1960. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1978. Danny had been working for the Massport Authority as a toll collector for more than 10 years.
Danny is the beloved father of Daniel and Kelsey Johnson both of Woburn. He is the loving and devoted son of Thomas J. and Mary H. (Connolly) Johnson. He is the beloved brother of Thomas J. Johnson Jr. and his wife Judy of Charlestown and Michael P. Johnson and his wife Christine of Charlestown. He is the loving uncle to Thomas, Matthew, Kellie and Christina Johnson all of Charlestown. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Danny's Funeral will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 1, 2009, from 1 to 5 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
