Catherine Andros, Springfield, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away January 28, 2009, at the home of her son in North Andover. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles G. Andros, who died in 1989.
Catherine was born in Sapulpa, OK, and moved to Springfield in 1940. She worked in cosmetics at Forbes & Wallace. She was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, as well as former President of the Philoptochos Society.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. George and Maria Andros of Chatsworth, GA, and William C. Andros of North Andover. Other survivors include four grandchildren; Alexis, Charles, Vanessa, and Julie; four great-grandchildren, Stavros, Elias, Caroline, and Porter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Maria Christoules, and her sister Helen Coster.
Many family and friends attended a funeral Mass that was celebrated on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 9:45 am in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Springfield. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours were Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield, MA, 01108.
